Am I am reading this right under Step 2 where it says "In a large bowl, combine remaining grated cheese, milk mixture and uncooked pasta. Pour into prepared pan, cover tightly with foil and bake 30 minutes" i.e. that in essence I don't have to cook the macaroni first and have to put uncooked macaroni in the baking dish?? The other recipe I looked at instructed to pre-cook it, which sounds more intuitive. Thank you.

My girls are 30 pounds and 36-38 inches tall (maybe a smidge taller than that). I've checked the size chart but figure I get some more IRL advice:)

So we just found a youngish pitbull-looking dog wandering around in our driveway. Looks like he's very loved; well groomed, all his tags, etc. The two numbers on his collar have been disconnected & there's no exact street address, just a road (which is in our town, but nowhere near where we live). He has a microchip ID number, so we called & found out that the contact info they've got doesn't match what's on his tags. They called & left voicemails for the owners. We brought him into our front yard & gave him some water & a few treats, & he's whining out there right now (pretty sure he wants someone to come play with him).

If the owners don't call back, how long should I wait before calling animal control for him? We've got a dog as well, who doesn't always play well with other dogs, so I can't let her out in the yard as long as he's there, and I'm a little concerned he might be able to jump our fence (it's 4 feet high, but aren't pit bulls good jumpers?). He also seems pretty excitable, so I don't want DD playing in the yard with him there. WWYD?

DS seemed fine this morning - woke up in good mood. ate all his breakfast. went happily to therapy. seemed fine, but a bit quiet on way home.

when we got home, he wanted to play outside. then came in, saying he was hungry for lunch.

i made him grilled cheese.

he sat down and literally in the span of half an hour, started to look...weird.

eyes got sick/glassy looking. he started almost weaving in his seat. and coughing/gagging when i asked him to eat his lunch.

i felt him and he seemed a little warm.

and became very lethargic.

i pulled him out of his seat and he kept doing this little cough thing like he might throw up

took his temp and it was 100.2 underarm.

his hands and feet are absolutely freezing. he started saying, "i need to sleep. i don't feel very well."

almost seemed like he couldn't stand or walk.

i brought him upstairs and gave him some tylenol. he asked to go in his crib. i sat in his room for a while and then he told me to leave b/c he wanted to sleep.

anyway...sounds like a virus? it just was so sudden. i don't know if i should call the doctor b/c what would i even say..."hi, my son seems weird. and has a bit of a fever." i mean, what am i asking her?

thoughts?

thanks

This happens almost every time. he's pissy and short with me. We end up arguing.

This time he has been on the road for 4 weeks just about. The first week him and I took a solo kids-free vacation to the Caribbean. He had to fly out the next day across the country for 2 weeks for training for his new job. So the kids saw him for like 4 hours before he had to leave (we werent at our house either so he didnt get to go home). Then he is gone for 2 weeks and comes home last weekend on Sat morning and leave again early Monday (like before kids wake up) for some other management meeting at new company. So this is the 4th week he's gone. I work full-time so this hasnt exactly been a picnic for me either. I've been waking up at 5:30, getting the kids dressed and ready for school and fed. Driving DS to daycare (15 minutes each way) then getting home right in time to grab DD's backpack and run outside to catch the schoolbus. Then I jump in the car and go to work. Then after work I have to pick both kids up and go home and feed the dog, make dinner, baths, put them to bed. All by myself for 3 weeks! (I know some of you do this longer). But 3 weeks is a long time. And I've been good about it. No calling DH at night complaining. He's been calling me almost nightly and we chat for a few minutes.

So today he gets home and we talk on the phone. He seems fine. Then he calls me back and is pissy asking me where he is picking DD up at (daycare or school?). And I say I whereever he wants to. I dont know. He had mentioned wanting to pick the kids up if he slept well on the plane. So this is his thing, not mine. I know not to make plans for him because he then accuses me to planning out his entire day/weekend, etc...So then he asks for the school phone #. And I tell him that he can look it up online (I dont know the number offhand, I get online and look it up!) Why are men so helpless sometimes? When I am at home with the kids alone I dont call him for stupid reasons like this. I dont mind him calling but be nice about it for chrissakes! So we hang up at odds with each other. Then I have a long phone interview with the anesthesiologist because DD is having a cyst removed next week. When I call DH to tell him about it (I am a little weepy after hearing about the side effects of the anesthesia) he is mad at me again and tells me he has 8 hours of meetings on Tuesday(the day of the surgery) WTF! We talked about the day and he was going to take the day off. So he acts like I never told him about it and he had no idea he needed the day off. Then he hangs up on me.

I know he's grouchy because he hasnt been home in so long (except for less than 48 hours last weekend) and he has lots of stuff to do (like mow the lawn). But I dont know why he has to be such a jerk to me.

He will apologize but it never seems like he really thinks he should. And if I ask for an apology, I get it but it doesnt seem genuine. Its like he's saying he's sorry just to get me off his back. Once it blows over (sometimes an hour or so) he will act like everything is fine and be nice again and I am still upset and sad over how he treated me.

He's a good dad. He does everything around the house and works hard at his job too. He just can be so moody after these stupid business trips.

After only pooping on he poppy seemingly by accident I'm so impressed with DS who over the last two weeks has become poop trained to only go on the potty. But sometimes he has huge poops every other day or so and then has just little poops. We had been giving him Miralax regularly to stay ahead of some on and off constipation but then he started having big poops on the potty so we stopped. Now with the little poops I'm worried about constipation but I don't want to mess up our potty success. Worried about Miralax making things too soft or otherwise changing things since he's so good now about telling us when he needs to go. Also before the poop was smooshed in a diaper so now I'm much more acquainted with the sizes but I don't know if those big poops were him just finally releasing, maybe holding it back too long, or if these little poops are normal or if it's constipation. Sorry for the TMI! What do you think?

Thanks to Brittone answering my question about pain I'm pretty sure that I have SPD but I haven't been able to get into see my OB before my regular appointment next week. I've exchanged messages with her staff about the pain I'm in but they say the Dr. says its just round ligament pain and to take Tylenol. When I asked about SPD they got back to me that the Dr. says its too early for that, which sounds very wrong from what I've now read about it. When I ask for opinion on how to go about my daily activities they said don't change anything but when I mention that daily activity and exercise makes the pain worse then they say to limit my activities. :banghead: I'm very frustrated that I'm not getting any advice and about being so limited in my activities for months. I really wanted to do fun things with DS this summer and enjoy our last months together before the new baby changes everything. Plus now I'm really worried about being very out of shape if I have to basically severely limit my walking to keep the pain down. I'll see if she can give me a referral for PT at my next appointment but I'm skeptical she will since she doesn't believe it I anything which scares me because of what I've read about being careful in labor.

Any BTDT advice about SPD? I can't find many answers about daily activity. Will the pain just get worse or will your body somehow adjust if you don't limit yourself? Anything help?

It's never been something DH and I eat around the house and DH only occasionally takes it to work in his lunch which I think might b the problem because DS didn't eat it sooner.

DS1's Mythbusters party was 2 weeks ago. I thought I'd share what we ended up doing because a few mentioned they might do it down the road.

Overall, it went really well. I needed a bit more time though!

The party was 12-2:30. It was supposed to be 1-3:30 and not include lunch, but one boy had to leave at 2:30, so we shifted it up and I added lunch. There were 4 boys total, including DS1.

Everyone arrived on time. We explained the show to the one who had never seen it before. We had safety glasses for all the kids.

We did the following:
Can a piece of paper be folded more than 7 times? - We explained taht we'd heard it wasn't possible to do and gave them regular copy paper to try. We then tried with 12x12 scrap book paper. We then used a large sheet of newspaper roll. They had fun trying to figure out if bigger would help.
Do Wint O Green Lifesavers spark when you bite them? - we had them all up in the bathroom in the dark trying to see sparks. We then got a hammer out and smashed some in the dark (hard to do, really). They had a fun time though. One boy did not like the taste, so having the sink to spit it in was good :).
Will a hot dog explode on the grill if you don't put little slices in it? DH did all the grill work :). We did a cut hot dog and regular and put it on. We then moved on to the next myth while it cooked and just checked on it every 5 minutes or so.
Do Pop Rocks and soda make your stomach explode? They first tried just pop rocks in their mouth and then added Sierra Mist. It was a bit messy, but they had fun.
Does butter toast always fall buttered side down? We had 1 loaf of breaded toasted and buttered. They had tongs, plates, a table, and a white board. They figured out what they wanted to do and took the data. It wasn't the best experiment and they seemed a bit bored.
Can you walk in a straight line, while blindfolded, if you're dizzy? We used a jump rope to mark the start line. We put a hula hoop about 25 feet away as a target. First, we blindfolded each kid and pointed them in the right direction and when they were even with the hula hoop, we measured how far away they were. Then, we spun each kid around 10 times and pointed them again. It was hilarious!
Lunch break and presents
Will a marshmallow explode in the microwave? We tried for various times, added more than 1 marshamallow, etc.
Will a boat made of duct tape float? We gave them a roll of duct tape and a pair of scissors each. They had a box that they had to make their boat fit into (size restriction). They had 20 minutes to build. We used a kiddie pool and loaded them up with quarters to see how much they held before sinking. This was a huge hit and they loved it.
Do Mentos and diet Coke explode? Clearly the highlight of the party! We did it first with a small diet Coke and 1 Mentos. We worked up to a 2l of diet Coke and 4 Mentos. At one point, they each had their own 24 oz and Mentos to try. Loved it! Very fun.
Does duct tape glow in the dark? Stick it to itself and slowly pull it apart in a dark room. This was a last minute addition and we did it as parents arrived to pick up the boys.

Then we realized - Cake! We had totally run out of time. One got cake to go and the others were able to stay a few more minutes.

It was a great party. It was busy. I am very glad my mom took my other kids away. It would have been very difficult to have the younger ones here. I am also glad DH was here as we were able to alternate who was in charge to keep it moving.

Our party favors:
a roll of gold duct tape
a roll of Mentos
a small diet Coke
fake mustaches
safety glasses

I warned the parents about the Mentos and diet Coke being in the bags. I told them the boys might enjoy showing the family how it explodes and they thought it was great.

If we didn't break for lunch, 2.5 hours would have been just enough. Three hours is much better.
